These interactive group sessions are a great opportunity to learn how to self-manage your health, while connecting you with other people living with Type 2 diabetes.
The FREE sessions are led by a registered dietitian, with support from a diabetes nurse, pharmacist, Sport Bay of Plenty and the Diabetes NZ Tauranga branch.
Morning/afternoon sessions are held over two weeks, or evening courses over five weeks. Groups run in Tauranga South, Mount Maunganui, Te Puke, Pāpāmoa, Katikati, and via Zoom.
Over eight hours, you’ll learn:
- What is diabetes?
- The value of physical activity
- Healthy eating with diabetes
- Medications
- Diabetes complications and travel tips
- The effect of stress and sleep on diabetes
- Goal setting and self-management
There are usually 5-10 participants in each group. Everyone is welcome to bring a support person.
Self-referrals and referrals from a health professional are welcome. Contact selfmanagement@wboppho.org.nz for more information or call (07) 571 7729.
