Western BOP Primary Health Organisation is a health care organisation focused on providing care in the primary or community setting. Usually this involves health care professionals such as doctors, nurses and Hauora workers trained and skilled to provide health care for your and your family as accessably and appropriate as possible.
PHOs receive funds from the District Health Board and elsewhere to provide services. The types and level of funding is based on identified need, the number and characteristics - eg gender, age, ethnicity - of those enrolled with them.
Over time PHOs will increasingly take the lead in coordinating and administering a wide range of health care services. PHOs will do more than care for the unwell, they will begin to focus also on keeping people well.
WBOP PHO is a joint venture partnership between Ngaiterangi and Ngati Ranginui iwi together, and Provider Inc.
Provider Inc is an umbrella organisation for general practices and a wide range of primary health organisations such as podiatrists, asthma and respiratory, hauora, and mental health workers.
The PHO can refer you to Provider Inc if you have an interest in joining. Contact us for more information.
The WBOP PHO operates under approval from the District Health Board and is governed by a Board of elected or appointed Directors. The Co-Chairs of the Board rotates between the partners on an annual basis.
